Jesse Mineo (b. 1989) is a Sicilian-American and Nuyorican interdisciplinary artist living and working in Queens, New York. He holds a BFA from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Mineo’s practice incorporates assemblage, lens-based media, sound and lighting design, mark making and creative writing. His work often centers on personal history, sense memory, tradition, iconography, identity and the digital experience. Appropriating objects and imagery from American entertainment, and other popularly consumed objects and media, Mineo’s work marvels at the unseen ways strangers are intimately connected through space and time. In this way, his practice sits in opposition to any person, system or structure that would endeavor to pull us apart.
